Hillside Orchards Wedding in Amherst, Ohio – Kat & David’s Outdoor Celebration
Some wedding days just feel like they were ordered straight from a wish list — and Kat and David’s Hillside Orchards wedding in Amherst, Ohio, was one of them. From the moment I pulled up to this charming outdoor wedding venue near Cleveland, the sun was already shining across the rows of apple trees, and I knew we were in for something special.
First Look in the Grove
Kat and David decided to do their first look right in the same grove where they’d later exchange vows. It was such a peaceful spot — soft light filtering through the trees, a gentle breeze, and that unmistakable calm that comes before the big moment. When David turned around and saw Kat for the first time, it was pure magic. Those few seconds said everything about who they are as a couple — warm, genuine, and completely at ease with each other.
Outdoor Ceremony
The ceremony took place in that same grove, under clear blue skies and surrounded by nature. It couldn’t have been more perfect. There’s something timeless about outdoor weddings in Ohio, especially at a place like Hillside Orchards, where the setting itself does half the storytelling for you.
Bridal Party in the Apple Orchard
After the ceremony, we wandered through the apple orchard for some photos with the bridal party. Everyone was laughing, soaking up the sunshine, and having fun — just the way a wedding day should feel. I love photographing at Hillside because every direction you turn, there’s another picture-perfect backdrop. The combination of rustic orchard charm and wide-open country views makes it one of my favorite venues to photograph.
I also have to give a special shoutout to Diane, the owner of Hillside Orchards. She was everywhere that day — making sure everyone got where they needed to be, even shuttling families back and forth herself. It’s that kind of care and attention that makes a place like Hillside so special.
Sunset by the Lake
As the evening rolled in, Kat and David slipped away for a few quiet moments by the lake. The timing couldn’t have been better — the sunset put on a show, and I was lucky enough to be there clicking away while they took it all in. The light, the reflection on the water, and the two of them just soaking up that golden glow — it was the perfect way to close out their day.
Reception and Dancing
When they returned to the reception, the music picked up, and the dance floor never emptied. Kat and David and their guests danced well into the night, celebrating under the stars and orchard lights — the perfect ending to a beautiful day.
